Default Aye just can't do it, Cap'n

With great regret, from my nerdy side, I must sadly report the passing of everyone's favourite Scottish engineer, James 'Scotty' Doohan, who passed away this week at the age of 85 after a long battle with alzheimer's.

He's the second of the original Star Trek cast to go, the first being DeForest Kelley (Dr MocCoy) about five or six years ago.

Beam him up, God

Scotty was the man, but I remember seeing him in something recently and he was looking very rough indeed, so it's no surprise. Funny how between the series and the movies he did maybe 4 years of work in Hollywood, but he managed to ride that fame all the way through to the end. I'm gonna have to look him up on IMDB and see if he ever managed to do anything other than Star Trek. I think we all need a drink in his honor.

Now where's my Romulan Ale...

After the edit:

Gleaned from IMDB, Scotty's wife was a mere 48 years old to his 85. GO SCOTTY GO!

And he had a six year old daughter, and other kids by his previous wife. The man was in the Canadian Royal Artillery and lost a finger from his right hand in the DDay invasion.
