Yeah, the video card requirements are pretty strict. I don't think a generic card is going to cut it

According to someone on the LoS forum, it's the pixel shader 2.0 requirement. In any case, you're not going to play with less than a 9600 or FX5700.

Here's the LoS thread with some minimum cards and pricing:

Get the Radeon 9600 XT... I think Kitz and SiFi have it, and it's a *very* good card for a low price.

*edit* I have a 9800 Pro (128)... I'm not so impressed, but more because I think it's showing its age. Next upgrade I get will be PCIE, but since that will require a complete overhaul of my comp... I'm not in too much of a rush. Waiting for Intel 64-bit architecture to be readily available/affordable... I am not impressed with AMDs, and have never been sold on their "We put gamerz first!!!11!!1111" stance.

FWIW, I have an AMD 64 and like it a lot, no problems. Doesn't run as hot as the P4, too.

The other major feature I'm waiting for is SLI for Radeons... once that happens, it will be a bigger push to pick up a PCIE system (or, if I can get over my fear of nVidia after their benchmark falsifying)

It's already happened. Those motherboards and cards that will be running Crossfire (ATI's SLI) are being shipped later this year. The boards are being spec'ed and designed right now. Some samples should be ready in a couple months and we'll see anand, tom's and others with reviews then.

Should be interesting because ATI is saying that Crossfire won't lock people to ATI only.

The difference is that you don't have to swap out 5 (or whatever) CDs to install the thing. I wanted the DVD version of UT2k4 for this reason, but the stores were sold out and I had to get CD.

Sometimes there's bonus material on the DVD version, but I don't think BF2 has any.

I'm not. However I'm getting very (VERY) tired of "apostrophe abuse" and I'm seeing more and more of it.

[rant]
The rules for apostrophes are very simple:
1. Use them to replace missing letters in a contraction. "Can't" is "cannot," "don't" is "do not," etc.
2. Use apostrophe-s or a trailing apostrophe (if the word ends with an s) to show possession on a noun or pronoun. "Julie's car" (the car belonging to Julie), "the boy's bike," and "Shamus' kilt."

That's really it. Here's a couple of ways apostrophes are misused:
1. Do NOT use an apostrophe on an already possessive pronoun, like "his," "hers," or "its." Note the difference between the possessive "its" as in "its very nature," and the contraction "it's" that replaces "it is." This is the most common and understandable form of misplaced apostrophes.
2. Do NOT use an apostrophe to make a noun plural. More than one cat is not "cat's", they are "cats."
[/rant]

"Go's," used above, doesn't count as a contraction. It doesn't even save a keystroke.
