Jarhead...
...almost makes me want to reenlist.
It didn't help that I ran into a few guys from my old unit at the theater, talkin about how everyone missed me and I should come 'round to pt every once in a while. One kid there was about to get transferred to Parris Island to be part of our clearance screening detail there. Poor kid has been in a joint service environment his whole career (two years)..he'll be hurtin on an island full of Marines. Great movie. It really really really captured what it's like to be in the Corps at times. The camraderie, the craziness, and the bullshit are all portrayed perfectly. Also it should be noted that this isn't a war movie. True it takes place during the war, but there aren't any actual combat scenes. Some shelling and whatnot, but it's about the human factor moreso than the battles. Has anyone else seen it?

i haven't seen it yet, myself, but i know a few of the THZ are enlisted, and i was thinking about you guys when i saw the previews. i want to see it not because of intrinsic interest, but because quite honestly, Desert Storm occurred when i was in 3rd grade, and i don't recall much from then, and my comprehension of it is still limited. no, i don't know what it's like, but i have utmost respect for those of you that do.
as an aside, it's based on the book of the same name by Anthony Swofford

We'll see it. But probably not until it comes out on video. Money's been pretty tight the last few months.
