Default Anyone on retail Tribes Vengeance yet?

I went out and bought my copy, and by the way, its nice to be back. Too much work makes me a dull guy, so in between partying in Palm Beach and work, I think I can squeeze in some T:V.

I went and bought my copy yesterday, I must say its a different feel from T2. Seems faster and more chaotic, and I'm not sure yet about the network code, I joined a pub and before I could even spawn in, a Heavy on the opposing team had already mortared our base to smithereens. That's on DSL by the way.

So, what's everyone's status? I'm hoping to really get into T:V, and also Guild Wars when it comes out.

Got it Friday, been playing the campaign. And on the Hard difficulty level, there are some good challenges. The AI is not fantastic, but it's not completely st00pid, either. Between it, the odds, and the scripting, it plays pretty well.

Yeah, its nice to be back. Let's see what's been happening?

Moved to Florida, started a homebuilding business, survived another ex-girlfriend, and then last month four hurricanes... AND I'M STILL HERE!!! BRING IT!

So now that things are quieting down again, and Tribes is back with a... *ahem*... Vengeance, I'm ready to tear into Blood Eagle with my spinfusor. I've pubbed a bit, and so far its not too bad, although I'm a bit surprised at the changes in some of the packs and such. Ah well, overall its pretty good.

See you out there!

[EDIT] Oh yeah, I remembered what I miss the most. The targeting laser, seeing as how that's the way I finagled my way into THZ... that and a mortar shell through the window of the tower. Hehe, classic.

Yeah, the heavies seem more mobile in this version, could be the ease of skiing combined with the Havok physics engine, dunno for sure though.

Do any of yoo all think that some content/upgrades might be downloadable in the near future? Such as a targeting laser for scout/snipers to call in the heavy mortars accurately? Or a more interactive Commander screen? Right now, although the focus of the Tribes franchise has been team combat, the game seems pretty chaotic. Pub servers in T2 seemed more organized, but I suppose that could just be that most of the people playing T:V are still just getting the feel for it.

heck yea, a heavy with the speed pack is great, combine the reload effect with a blaster pistol or burner for great heavy D

well the modders will probably put in all that stuff once they get going, but mods usually take a while, so we'll have to live with the basics for now

i could definitely see the targeting laser being put in by a modder, would'nt be too hard, probably not the command screen, it wasn't a extremely important mechanic in the first place, and now with the sensor network out the window it's even less important with respect to managing the sensor bubbles and such, destroying your enemy's base isn't as effective as the other games, with the muti repair pack, the whole base is up to spec in 30 seconds flat, IMO the emergency stations should be way off base so it is'nt that easy

things i'd like to see modded in:

unmanned turrets: just like in planetside, they fire at half the rate when unmanned, full rate when they have a gunner

1/2 size mutator: shrinks all players, vehicles, terminals, turrets, flags to half the size: effectively doubling map sizes
