BTW, I stumbled across something very cool a little while back... a 4-CD set of The Hobbit, read by Nicol Williamson. My God, the man can narrate like few I've heard. Big deep rolling voice, impeccable pronouciation, and he does all the voices, too.

Isn't Nicol Williamson the guy who played Merlin in John Boorman's movie Excalibur, Bug? If so, he is a good actor too. Funniest Merlin I've ever seen.
