Ever want to LAN with friends from the internet? (found best VPN prog)
Me and my friend were looking for a way to play a few games multiplayer without having to play online through the servers.
We realized not all games have direct connect Jon searched and came up with a program I've NEVER seen or heard of before: http://hamachi.cc/ whats this? A VPN (Virtual Private Network) program thats not only secure but also extrmely user friendly without any need for configuration? I thoght it was too good to be true! SO I started it up and in order for me to connect to his netowkr I just had to do 2 things he said. At this point I said "AH HA! I knew there was a catch" That is untill it came up with the Name/Password screen. Yes, connecting to your friends VPN is as easy as AIM And does it work well? is this a hoax? We test it on a Call of Duty 2 LAN game. I hosted and we were playing with him at 98 ping. Now you may go "wtf thats pretty high" considering Im hosting from Seattle and he lives in Lansing, Michigan....no thats not high poing at all. I guess it's a pretty popular program that just no one talks about, so I wanted to share it with you guys if you havn't heard of it before. Adios! ~steve/stikes |

lol you sound like spam!
That thing looks pretty neat *Update Upon further review: I was considering trying this out, however I have a small issue with their being a mediation server and that it looks like eventually there will be a monthly fee. I might be interested if you could run your own mediation server or have a one time fee. |

There's a ton of VPN stuff out there; most routers these days are also capable of creating a session. Didn't realize this was a problem for most. What games do you want to play but can't?
I would also have an issue with their server being in between. It's supposed to be a Virtual Private Network, after all.

Just a quick google gave me this: http://openvpn.net/
I'm not sure how intensive the server version would be if you only had 1 remote client accessing you. I do know that you'd need to create a DMZ for your computer if you have a router (Or just open swaths of ports... I'm not sure which ports off hand this program uses). More to come when I get home later today.
