T1 polygon flicker (z-buffer?)
I've had this problem for a few years now, and I'd really like to get it solved so I can some more T1 time in... Basically, the game worked great with my old GF2 Pro but since I installed a GF4 I get many, many instances of polygons cutting into each other, items clipping through walls, etc. With a little bit of research it seems that other people having this problem have pinned it on something to do with the z-buffer, but apart from that I haven't been able to find any further solutions. Does aaaanyone have any idea why I'm having these problems, why it only started happening with the GF4, and what I can do about it?
(This is running T1 with the latest/last patch. The problem has also happened with several version of Dets including now with the 41.09s.) m19 |

Sorry I don't know much about that, I have not experienced many problems with T1, but I have mostly played with a Voodoo and then a short time on a GF2. T1 was designed primarily for glide in the beginning and ogl support was added later. I can only imagine the game getting more buggy as newer video cards appear.

If it's a z-buffer problem, can't you change your z-buffer settings?
Or at the least, try an older version of the dets? |

Z-buffer settings aren't changeable anywhere I can see, of course that's the first thing I tried. Nothing in-game, nothing in the Dets, nowhere. (I'm not about to use a few-years-older Dets just for T1, either.) Other boards have confirmed that it's, as someone guessed above, simply newer cards creating more problems for the initially Glide-centered game. Ah well, maybe some solution'll come along sometime, but for now it looks like there's no answer.

One thing that you might want to try is using software mode, instead of OpenGl. Just to see if the crazy stuff also appears then.
If it does, then it's probably your card, and there is nothing you can do. If it doesn't, then you know it's the drivers. Also, have you tried using the drivers from your card manufacturer instead of NVidia? I know that with my card manufacturer (ASUS), they give features that the Dets don't. |

Doesn't show up in software, but I'd already figured by now that it's the card since it happened as soon as I switched that one in a while back, from a GF2 to the GF4, with the same Dets. That's basically been confirmed by other boards as well. I haven't tried Gainward's drivers; I've never had much luck with manufacturer's drivers in respect to videocards, but it might be worth a try once I'm off work.
