![]() Ever try to swap out both a video card and a CD-ROM drive at the same time with an HP WIN98SE computer? I really suggest you don't... Oh, and well I'm suggesting that, *DON'T* *EVER* *TRUST* *HP* *DRIVERS*....
Let's just say I almost kissed my ass goodbye tonight, when I tried to get the latest drivers for the onboard intel chipset that came *with* the computer... oh boy....I had the system restore disks in hand, and was prepared to meet the horrible opposition from my mother after having to reformat the harddrive... yeah. But, after some serious reworking, and consultation of intel's quality drivers (untampered by HP) I was able to save the day, and get the family computer to work again....

![]() I have the exact same PC as you Laur, and in one night all at once, I've switch my vid card, added a DVD-ROM, CD-RW, some RAM and a NIC card. Turned it on, NP what so ever.
Also, you need to have the CD-ROM on the same IDE has it was originally to run the recovery disk, or it will give you a CD not found error
