I wish someone would make a program already that will automatically send this nasty crap back to the sender and flood their email account with this crap. Its annoying to see the emails in your mailbox but then to have to see pictures when ya open your email. Time to hire a hacker to break into these guys computers and fill their whole computer with the crap they send out.

I don't use the preview pane. You can usually tell from the sender and subject whether it's mail from someone you know. So, when I get new messages, I select all of them, unselect the ones I recognize, and *nuke* the rest to oblivion. So I never have to see pictures.

Also, there's an old trick that can be used in email, which is encoding information in an image link - even if the image is only one pixel and is white on a white background. When your computer tries to render that picture, it has to send a request to the server at the specified URL. Someone with the right setup on the server side can then tell which email addresses are receiving their spam, so they know your address is good and can sell it to other spammers as a "good" address.

This is a HUGE reason I nuke most of my mail without opening or previewing it.
