Burt has said he was offered the lead in the 1983 movie Terms Of Endearment, but turned it down to do Stroker Ace because he promised a buddy. Jack Nicholson (2nd choice) went on to win an Academy Award for his role as a washed up astronaut in Terms Of Endearment and the rest is history.:(
