My fiancee pointed this (http://www.terry-kelly.com/pittance.htm#) at me; read the story, it's quite sweet. One of the other teachers at her school played the video to the kids in a Remembrance Day assembly.. it coupled with a very well done playlet struck them dumb.

Believe it or not, we were generally told at my work from on-high that wearing poppies was in violation of the dress code.

So we did it anyway. Some things are more important, this is one of them. :)

I bought my poppy the weekend before November rolled around, and I had people telling me it was "too early" and "out of place"... I don't get it. When is it out of place to remember those that fought for my peace? Like.... never?

people like that are those who have either forgotten, or don't understand the concept of sacrifice period.
i would ask, should we not be wearing them year-round? But i know the response many would give me.
I wear mine for military and also *civilian* casualties of modern conflicts.
