Just uploading a pic of the sampler I'm working on, plus another of what (I hope)
it will look like when I'm done.

Nice :D My Mom would always get my brother and I little cross stitching kits when we were at my Grandparents, kinda fun.

That is nice. How much time have you put into it so far?

I still have one that I started in a drawer that she gave me that I need to work on.

About 80 hours, I guess. Advanced ones are a pain. :D

Bright red lipstick, Gryph?

those are awesome! i look forward to seeing the finished product.
have you ever considered doing contract work? or is it a straight from the heart sort of art? :)

Ghryphen

more pink than red

crap i do not have the patience for that.

XRogue

Nope. Contract work of this sort doesn't pay terribly well. Designing patterns for other people to do is more profitable, and that I have considered.

the bookstore i work in carries no fewer than fifty-odd needlepoint/cross-stitch magazines and the like. You could probably sell patterns to them if you wanted

Very true. It's not a bad living, once you get started. Of course, you end up giving a nice chunk to the publisher, but still.

Any idea what your next project is going to be?

XRogue

I have one about this big which I trade off working with this one. It's about half done. I rotate between 2-3 projects. So I'll be working on that one, and swap it out with a project Gambit asked me to do, and probably a sign or 2 for the kitchen.

XRogue

Just awesome. How long did that take you to do? Great work Rogue! :D

Ill have to post about my little project I did during the summer.

XRogue
01-04-2007, 05:25 PM
On and off, about 3 years. If I'd done it straight thru, more like 11 months. Can't focus that good tho. (Mental focus, no I haven't *actually* screwed up my eyes yet. :D

Ghryphen
01-04-2007, 11:03 PM
Very nice rogue :D

XRogue
01-05-2007, 08:23 AM
Thanks, Gryph. :D Where do you guys think I should put it once I get it framed? In our room, or in a more 'public' area of the house?

Ghryphen
01-05-2007, 12:28 PM
Public of course! Do you give tours?

XRogue
01-05-2007, 01:01 PM
Nah, but us hermits DO occasionally have visitors. And people are always wanting to know if I have done something recently.

Fact is I give away most of the stuff I stitch, because I'm so sick of looking at it by the time I'm done. ;)

And I think I'll be entering the King Arthur sampler in the state fair. Tell ya if I do.

XRogue

holy crap! get a job!
who has that kind of time?
Seriously those are fantastic you could get some money for those babies, or if you were to do family crests fro people... big bux

Aluscia

I love your work, as always, Rogue... You're so talented

XRogue
01-07-2007, 01:17 PM
Thanks, Alu. :) I'm thinking of starting a design business. I know a lady who paints, and I can do the design ideas, have her paint 'em, and work 'em up into designs.

I'm thinkin' some Tolkien patterns would be good too, but I'd have to persuade certain persons (Aluscia knows who I mean ;)) to license me. Wish me luck, everybody.

Aluscia
01-07-2007, 05:03 PM
Yeah, good luck with that -_-

XRogue
01-07-2007, 06:22 PM
I can stitch you a LOTR thing as a gift anyway, honey. :) Would that be ok?
