Hey all, there's a new addition to the Variable family as of this morning at 0728.

Nathaniel Edward Karman, born Dec 8th, 8 pounds 10 ounces, thirteen freaking hours of labor! Seriously at least Kris got to be drugged, I had to sit in a terribly uncomfortable chair the whole time.

Anyway, that makes three for us now, and will necessitate us moving into a bigger house shortly, so expect that announcement soon too.

I'd put pictures up now but honestly, he's hideous. Just like his father before him and my father before me and so on down the ages.

Congrats! Kris may have a somewhat different opinion of who had the rougher wait, though... ;)

My sister just had her first on Monday.

And yes, they're all ugly right away. But it wears off quickly.

BTW, does your address start with 3614?

Ohhh, creepy. Indeed it does my friend, but perhaps not for much longer. We're looking at a nice place on the edge of a lake and about twice the space of this little place we're in now.

Creepy nothing. Just demonstrating the searching power of the internet plus a tidbit of information or two!

Bwahaha!

No, you see, the thing about simulated babies is that you can CTRL-X their 'leavings'. We'll send you some gloves. ;)

And speaking as resident expert, drugs or no drugs, Kim WILL have a different opinion than you. :p (Yes, I've done it both ways. )

Know what? :p

If it's the different opinion, yes. If it's what I think you're insinuating, nothing to know. :p

Heh. She was referring to the drugs vs. no drugs. She was much happier about that whole "labor" thing when the drugs were involved. Much.

Much.

Much. :D

Only bad part about the drugs is that whole "spinal injection" thing. Not to be taken lightly!

Variable

Oh, and the bedside manner of the nurses whilst getting the spinal injection!

Bear in mind that Kristin has a pathological fear of needles stemming from when she got a cut in her eyebrow stitched up at the tender age of 4 without anesthetic because of the doctors wonderful "Oh she won't possibly remember this when she's older" logic.

"Now deary, you have to quit moving. If you move while the doctor is trying to put the catheter in you could be paralyzed for life!"

Bull, obviously they do remember it.

I am not a bit scared of needles. Good thing, the one they use on your spine is like 10 inches long. I had one nurse for that, and her bedside manner was great. Anesthesiologist was bloody good at his job too. Only person I've ever seen who could hit a vein on me the first try. In my hand yet, those are harder. (I have invisi-veins, you can't see them. Pale as I am, too)

Shoot ya, he was happier, I could sleep and therefore, so could he. :)

My advice, don't be a hero, and get the epidural.

anaesthetic?
SiFi, how many anaesthetics did it take before you finally went out back when we went to get your wisdom teeth out? All i know for sure is that when you came out, you were staggering like an Irish at happy hour ;)

(and I can say that 'cause i'm 1/3 irish, right?)

One in each arm, sleepy gas, and twenty-ish minutes to put me under. They chose gas as an alternative to putting a third needle in my hand.

I'll say that I was pretty wonky after the second IV, but still conscious. Go me! :D
