So I recently fell out of love with WoW again, and busied myself playing Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines, which was quite a bit of fun. Now I'm bored again. Who's got something for me?

Wait for November with Dark and Light... It promises to be interesting. The amount of content and complexity they are slated to offer boggles the mind... I'm thinking Morrowind on a much more massive scale.

Two months without a new game? If I weren't already responding I wouldn't dignify such a preposterous idea with a response.

I'm thinking Bard's Tale. Even though I didn't necessarily care for the demo...from the reviews I'm made to believe that the demo was hastily, and somewhat shoddily put together.

Or maybe I'll just get my X-COM on. I loves me some X-COM.

After edit: I mistakenly put an "a" instead of an "s" in shoddily, and just now used the edit feature. BJ, this has to be the single best editing system I've ever seen for posts. Brilliant!

More editing: Perhaps I should add a caveat to my earlier request. The game doesn't have to be new per se, just new to me. So if there's a game out there that you're absolutely passionate about, throw it on the table. Maybe I haven't played it. Gameplay is the top of my priority list. I could give two shoots (see what your censoring system has reduced me to BJ?) about graphics or musical scores, I want some engrossing gameplay. Preferably with an encyclopedic amount of reading involved, a la Torment or Siege of Avalon. Or Zork. Maybe I should buy a book.

Play the original Bard's Tale on emulator. Scarabrae ftw!

As for new-ish games with engrossing gameplay... hrmm.... Maybe Dungeon Siege 2? I enjoyed the first one enough to actually finish it (funnily enough, V:tM Bloodlines is another game I've *actually* finished). Apparently the story is really great... That is my best suggestion.

Dark and Light doesnt do anything for me. It looks like it was made years ago and the graphics don't do it for me either. And whats with riding a chicken creature? :)

Hah yeah, I can't take much credit though, it is Jelsoft doing all these crazy things. They are doing some fun stuff with AJAX. I am going to look into using it as well for some projects. It is very cool you can send and receive information through the browser without reloading the page. This is what Gmail and such use.

The new bards tale isnt bad, but limited in scope, you want something epic i suppose, MMOs are the only place to get such things these days unfortunately
if you havent, try half life 2 and doom 3, they should have gone down in price by now, battlefield 2 has some good times to be had
Final fantasy 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2
god of war is fun, but mostly a slasher game
legacy of kain series (great story)

PvP/Normal servers on WoW are teeming with idiocy, try a RP server, the RPPVP with me and laur perhaps

Games on my hitlist:
Elder scrolls 10453?: Oblivion, looks great and garuanteed to be epic
Black and White 2: i'll play anything that crazy bastard molyneux puts his paws in

Top Four:
Rome: Total War with the Total Realism mod. Unfortunately, the TR site is down right now :(

Lego Star Wars, for a weekend of hilarity :) And if you've got a girlfriend who hates games, try her on this, very easy to play.

System Shock 2: Awesome, awesome game. It looks it's age, but it's by the same people who made Thief 1/2, and many of them were involved in Thief 3 as well :)

Any Thief game, though I swing more towards 2 and 3. But ALL awesome :)

Others
Any Splinter Cell game
Deus Ex (some necessary reading)
Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time
Klingon Academy, if you can find it. Booya General Chang!
Advent Rising (Rental only. Very short)
Red Orchestra (http://www.redorchestra.clanservers.com/), for the most realistic WW2 game I've seen. Eastern Front, so Russia vs Germany

I just played through SS2 a few weeks ago for the eleventy billionth time :D :D

Have you tried it with the fan made texture, sound and gameplay addons/patches/alterations? It's wonderful.

lol. America's Army. It's free. (Well, your taxes have paid for about 1/320,000,000th of it.)

Shogun: Total War is great.

And you might want to look for a game called X2: The Threat. It's very fun. Challenging at first, but it's fun.

X2 is nice. HUGE learning curve. I'm experiencing a glitch with my copy though...for some reason speech disabled itself and I can't figure out a way to reenable it. Then I uninstalled it to do a fresh run and found I was missing disc 1. So I stopped worrying about it. Maybe I'll resume the hunt :)

Hmm. Morrowind or any Elder Scrolls game will have an immense amount of reading. You've done Fallout and Fallout 2? I know you've played Deus Ex.
