if you know what this is you'll get the poem
Fly potato Fly
I’ve got the notion
To set potatoes in motion
And cause a mighty commotion
And not just any mere length will do
To the mighty ocean with you
So I make a contraption
A mighty fantastic contraption
To set potatoes in motion
And cause my mighty commotion
Four feet of pipe will do
To make potatoes blue
I haven’t a clue
What it will do
I hope it will set them in action
So that splashes will happen
I load the potato
As a load it will work
Woosh it goes
Would it work?
We willingly wait
For wait we must
Sploosh it goes
It worked it worked
High in the sky boy did it fly
And the gun did it roar as the potato did soar
The potato had flown
My cover was blown
My parents did hide
As my neighbors did fly
With an evil eye To my side
As they told me
What a mighty commotion
And I’ll be out in three to five

What are you talking about? We've got potato launchers up here in Canada! I used to go to a friends cottage and fire them off every summer... well until there was a little too much "fire" in the firing ;)
Lets just say long rest old black tube, she served us well for many a years.. but time passes and we must move on. I'm pretty sure were going to make a new one this summer.
As for hair spray.. we never used it. Good old WD 40 for us! (The old kind the new stuff just doesn't light)

I live in a floating home on the Columbia River and I have two neighbors with them that shoot them back and forth at each other. They also use them to slow down boat traffic, it's all a "No Wake" zone and if you're one of those peeps movin' too fast through there, you liable to get a smokin' potato sent your way in a hurry.

Hairspray??? WD-40?????
Some friends of mine used a whole propane tank! (the kind u use on a barbecue...) They even had a nozzle thingy to make it reload faster. Also, they found out that if u shoot apples, they explode.

I hear the best thing for those of us who wouldn't want to attach a 5 gallon bomb (ie. propane tank). Starter fluid! Ya know, the kind you spray in your carburator if it wont start.
