anyone else here, have mild withdrawals from the lack of a decent Diablo follow-up?
I did, and it took my girlfriend, asking if I could help her get through this game, for me to fully realize, how much I missed the hack-and-slash RPG.
Sacred, has captured the essence of DIablo2, and moved it forward, in some way, and taken different routes in others.
6 playable characters, ranging from your standard gladiator(read:Fighter)good for first/learner character, to Seraphim, an angel, with mixed combat and holy magic skills(not a good starter according to my girlfriend), or there's the Dark Elf, Vampiress, Battle Mage, or even the Wood Elf.
no gems or runes to hoard and merge with weapons/armor, but there are weapons/armor, that have "slots" open on them, that allow you to take them to a blacksmith, and have the blacksmith use his skills to imbue it with magical properties.
a nice addition, is horses, and there are a range of horses(best I've found yet is the Light Warhourse, but it died :() which make travel, and clearing of that dreaded fog war, much easier.
another great travel-aiding device, are teleportation gates, which like diablo, you walk through to actrivate, and then you can travel to other areas, usually major city to major city
all of the little details and tid-bits(from throw back jokes, from classic games, to gravestones picking fun at microsoft) really make the game more involving, and well, its pulled me in rather well :)
of course don't forget there is multi-player, either 2-4 player co-op, or up to 14 players, in a deathmatch(haven't fiddled with the multi-player yet, but for me anymore, multi-player, is near a necessity)
I hope that this generates, some interest, in what is definately a great game :)
