Wow... After seeing the entire series, I can't begin to describe how amazingly cerebral this anime is... And yet, it's so full of action and amazing music...
Based on Masamune Shirou's manga, this series explores the same universe that the movie (released in the early 90's) did, with significantly better animation/budget/seiyuu (voice actors). Yoko Kanno did the music, which I might add is freakin amazing (Yoko also did the music for Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, and a whole bunch of other animes).
I can't begin to sum up how amazing this series is. I'm going to try to get a hold of a legit copy now that it was been fully released in Japan, and should be shipped here by now. I would highly suggest this as a download just to check it out!

PS - This series is so popular that it received the budget to make another season's worth of episodes, something which rarely happens in these kinds of animes.

PPS - If you're wondering what relevance this may have to you, the Wachowski have stated that the Matrix was influenced quite a bit by Ghost in the Shell. See it! It's worth it!

Cool!

Yeah not very often you find a anime series that goes on and on. So many good series and it sucks they dont continue.

sorry again, forgot a rating.... 5 out of 5 stars. This series falls in the history of best animes, along with the movie.
