Oh here is a question.

What are the rules of engement? I tend to target generators when i first start a game, but it seems that it is a big NO-NO.

Anything else i need to know?

Don't tell me YOU were the one to baserape in Katabatic last night? BASTARD!!! :lol I'm not too concerned, but yes. There are rules of engagement that generally include no base rape. The best thing to do is to ask before doing so, because it can get you into trouble (ask Kit). Also, mining the repair kit respawn places isn't very nice ;)

PS - If it wasn't you, my deepest apologies. It just makes sense, now that you're asking about it, and you came on just as we were playing Katabatic...

PPS - I'm not mad, :lol It just made us (Me, Sgt, and Mobius) very irritated at that time, because no one came forward to apologize, and it put us at a huge disadvantage.

"huge disadvantage" run through a translation filter means : "We where making the XMEN look like fools and you stop us for 2 seconds."

As being an HO in T1, I would usually always ask before BaseRaping, and you usually don't do it before there atleast 10 people on the server, but that was in T1, it would probably be like 16 in T2

Base "trashing" (the more popular term) is a misdimenor to some people... Some think destroying a generator is a horrible thing to do.

In ACTUAL fact, taking out the generators is a good thing to do, and from what I hear of you DeLukas, you are GOOD at it. I am also good at it on most levels... destroying generators is the best thing to do in a clan war... however on some of the servers we play on you must ask first if it is okay to "base trash" which means destroying inventroy stations or generators.

Usually it is only a rule if there are a small number of players in the game, because some people think it would be a better game if they didn't have to worry about defense or repairing. I am AGAINST this rule strongly... I think base trashing is part of the game, and very often the only way to win. However, you must abide by whatever rules the server has set, including if the majority of players on the server have agreed to it. The bottom line is be courteous... but be as good as you can possibly be.

I'm against the rule since it's part of it, but I can understand how it also ruines it for other trying to practice when theres no gen, but the fact is, always ask

But isn't one of the most basic rules in battle to disrupt enemy logistics?

An army cannot fight on spirit alone, they must have food and supplies. By denying the enemy access to equipment, you sap their ability to fight.

Now I know this is a game, but shouldn't players, especially clan members who regularly play together as a coordinated team, be prepared for anything, including "base trashing"? I can see in a situation like Car Wars or Dueling that you wouldn't even consider base trashing, but it IS part of CTF almost as much as getting the flag itself.

Look at it this way. In a 5 on 5, 1 person can usually defend the base, another the flag, and the rest go O. If the opposing team goes ALL O, spike/clamps and mines are effective deterrents. If not, then its basically a stalemate.

I'm primarily a defensive player, but decent at HO, MO, and Dueling. I see defense as integral, and not just flag D. I think that at any point in a CTF game, a coherent team needs to be able to respond quickly to the needs of battle. If all 5 were to focus on base trashing, than they leave their base open for the other team to slip in and blow everything up.

Striking a balance between O and D marks the difference between a good team, and a GREAT team.

You're missing the point, Kaleban. The point is, we had decided on NO BASE TRASHING at the beginning of the games. That's what the point was about. Of course Base trashing is fine ina 5 on 5... It just needs to be agreed upon. We agreed, as two teams, that We didn't want it. That's why we're telling People to ASK before going ahead. It can really throw things out if everyone's playing with one set of rules, and someone isn't on the same wave. Understand? Sorry if this sounded bitchy... I just think it went way too far off course from what the original intent of the message was.

Look at the team sizes.

Usually when both teams are smaller, most times there will be an agreement to not attack bases.

When both sides have alot of players, base attacks should be no problem.

Asking when you enter an already running game is the proper approach.

In a macth, there will be always basetrashing, but in just a normal game, it's under an agreeement to ask be basetrashing, it hall just depends on how many people there is playing
