I dont know if they are doing this in any other states but here in Washington they are NOW enforcing the seatbelt law, starting May 20.

HELLO this should have been done a long ASS time ago!!

And the commercials are just stupid, they tell ya how they dont want anyone to die, its the law, show you cars wrecked, and how its the law again. They say one other thing but just cant remember it right now but it makes them sound so stupid. NOW you want to save lives? Tell that to all the ones who have lost someone.

Just ridiculous how things go around in this world.

Uhh... Seatbelt law... I can't remember when it was passed in ontario, but I've had to wear my seatbelt as part of law my whole life... 19+ years.

Yeah it has been a law here as well, but they are advertising that starting May 20th they will be watching more closely for seatbelts. One ad has a cop standing next to a wreaked car and says "This is what happens when you dont where you seatbelt"I was like WTF? How about "This is what happens when we dont enforce the law"

I was thinking more like "this is what happens when you drink and drive." They're starting to enforce it more here on May 24th. BUT, It is illegal for an officer in MN to stop you for JUST a seat Belt Violation. You have to be speeding or something else stupid to get a seatbelt ticket here.

Really? Here, the rozzers can pull you over, and I think can suspend your license (you get demerits for not wearing your seatbelt) if you've done too many things wrong. And yes, they're gonna be out in full force this weekend... which means they're going to ignore all the underaged drinking in Spencer Smith park, and all the drug deals/murders at Lasalle. I'm not cynical, it really is the city in which we live.

Yeah, right. Well, if you get more than 8 tickets, (Moving Violations) in 2 years, they will suspend your license for 3 to 6 months depending on what all them tickets were for. That's here in MN. But getting a Seatbelt ticket does not go on your Driving record, and it does not screw with your insurance. But it is a $75 fine. OH well. :barf :cry :barf :cry :disgust :barf :cry

I'm always surprised they don't show footage of a car crash with dummies not wearing seat-belts. Crash-test dummies, that is. I mean, watching what actually HAPPENS to a dummy without a seatbelt would be more convincing than just showing a crumpled car.

I say that because a lot of folks don't have the materials background to realize just what kind of force it takes to crumple steel into a wad. Show the dummy and it becomes more... errr... impacting. :)

Very true bug, but if you show something like that to me, I'm more inclined to laugh or so that's neat.... I'm a little sick that way... I watch racing just to see things start on fire. :D

I thought they couldnt pull you over here for just the seatbelt but found out from a friend in the law enforcement field that you can be, suckage.

Metal cars? They dont make those reliable kind of cars anymore, they are all plastic now  .

Mine is all steel. It is small, but still, all steel. I will not buy a Saturn. Ever. They've always been all plastic, (Except the roof, hood and trunk) and I think they are ugly.

Jester says he wants to take his seatbelt off every time he hears those commercials, they are getting so damn annoying!
I can't imagine anyone not wearing a seatbelt. Personally if you are that stupid I don't care if you do die.

I have a couple friends that were killed by seatbelts... NO Drugs, no booze... they were on properly, etc... They would have most likely lived, had they not worn it... And that was from the Trooper at the scene. So I choose to take my chances.

You know...

I was driving on 405 one time. Just after you pass through Factoria on your way to Renton. It was rush-hour traffic, and the average speed was probably about 20. (This was heading south.)
Now as you get to that hill that overlooks Renton (Kennydale is the name...not sure if you guys knew it by name), you have the one exit ramp that lets you get off at the top (Chevron station). Now I was driving along, and I see this little VW Golf zip past, and I thought that it was kind of funny since the guy would run into traffic. Well, the car died or something, and out pops 20, yes 20! Mexicans and they take off running. Some into traffic, some up the hill to the exit, and some up the side into the bushes. Next thing I know, there were a couple of state patrol cars stopping and a chopper flying overhead. It was just funny to see 20 people get out of a little car like that. They looked like they were running, because they were illegal immigrants or something (I don't know). BUT, they were heading SOUTH! And Canada is closer if they would have gone NORTH!

:D

Yes, and Canada would have let them in no problem... Especially if they have ties to Al-quaida. (or however you spell it:P)

Alas, it's not totally true... there are members of terrorist cells present in both Canada and the US, but they're not going to let you in with open arms if they actually know about it when you're coming over.
