Delta Force has been with me for quite some time now... Delta Force is, of course, the name of my computer. She was a beautiful Pentium 2 with a whopping 233mhz and 64mb of ram... and according to the worker at futureshop she had an amazing 64mb of xms memory. (He was, of course, wrong... after all he had to consult the sticker on the box to answer my question, and he thought ram and xms memory was the same thing.) Some time later she began to fall behind, so I hoisted Delta Force up and gave her a complete overhaul. She was now a beautiful Athlon 600 machine with 128mb of ram and a beautiful new 10 gig hdd... Later she gained another 128mb stick of ram and a golden 60 gig 7200rpm hdd. Not to mention the ever beautiful Geforce2 Ultra.
Delta Force was a faithful companion... but then the war against time was waged and Delta Force tried her best, but did not win the battle. Her 24x CD-Rom died first, at first being finicky and then not ejecting cds and then eventually there was no functionality at all. Then the CD burner started acting up... it would no longer burn cds... and it would eventually degrade to the point where it would read cds about 50% of the time... and whenever it did not read the cds it would scratch them instead.
Windows will freeze now whenever updating drivers... the floppy drive died as well... causing the computer to hang for a few minutes everytime the drive needed to be read. Even the fans were wearing out...
I am writing all of this because Delta Force is dying, and with her last moments she will have shared her story. many a great game was played on Delta Force... and she will be missed... but a part of her will go on... specifically the 60gb hdd and the geforce2 Ultra. They will be transplanted from old to new as Delta Force moves aside for "Rakurai"
This should be my last post from Delta Force.... may she rest in peace. I'll see you all when I have Rakurai hooked up.
