Default Graphics computer

What is the pros and cons of going with an AGP card versus a PCIexpress card nowadays?

I have an 8x mobo for AGP is there a benefit to go with PCI? or does it just take up a space, plus PCI seems to be cheaper.
Looking at the
Geforce 6600 AGP 256MB for $125
vs the
Geforce 6600 PCI express 256MB for $106

PCI-E is the new thing, AGP is old hat. Don't get PCI-E confused with PCI, you will need a new motherboard.

Yeah it is all that, it has double the bandwidth of AGP and you can run card's in SLI providing you have an SLI mobo, which means you can run two linked PCI-E video cards that will divide the load.

Not a whole lot takes advantage of PCI-E yet, there probably wouldn't be much difference between AGP and PCI-E, but if you are going to be building you new rig or can manage to get a few new parts I would consider it because anything from here on out is going to start moving toward it.

If I were to build a gaming computer right now it would be it would be 64bit PCI-E, possibly SLI. But I would probably still run a 32bit OS for a few more months.
