Outlook XP minimize to Tray
1 Attachment(s)
w00t you can enter a registry key to let Outlook XP minimize to the tray!
Here is the link. http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/955/ And if you do not know how to edit your registry, download this to your desktop, double click it and after it finishes entering the key, you can delete it. Outlook XP will now minimize to the tray. |

does this work for Outlook 2003?
|
2003 minimizes to the tray on its own.
|
Aha I figured it out, you have to click on "Hide outlook when Minimized" on the systray icon.
|
How do you do this? Does it still sit in the taskbar when its in the tray?

Just download the file to your desktop and double click and run it. It will modify a Outlook registry entry and then you can delete the file. When you minimize outlook it will go to the tray and will not be on the task bar, or it just might show in the tray all the time, I can't remember. You might have to close and open outlook for the changes to take place.
*edit, I forgot I had 2002 here at work, yes you need to close and open outlook for the changes to happen. Then when you have outlook open, there will be a tray icon and a task bar entry, when you minimize the task bar entry disappears. Here is a reg entry to return it to normal. |
Did that.. doesn't seem to want to work on mine.:ugh

Outlook 2003 and up you have to click on the systray icon and select "Hide when Minimized" the regedit won't work.
