New TV

Got a new TV and a hernia to go with it: http://picasaweb.google.com/rsnook/Hitachi

Im never ever lifting that TV again! Glad we have things to prop up in step form or that tv would be on the floor still :).

Heating pads all day on the back and bath soaks.

That's one sweet screen, my friend. Mind you, I think the sleek, chrome VHF and UHF dials AND the wood-panel print on mine would look better ;)

Mentioning the weight, I hope they at least gave you decent bracketry for it

Ghryphen 01-03-2007 09:13 PM

Well sort of, the the weight of the TV is at the mounts max weight rating so when extending the TV it is a little springy and scary.

Raiyven 01-04-2007 12:14 PM

Eww. Yeah, i've heard horror stories about flimsy brackets & poor designs that, by virtue of cheap materials, have bent, broken, or ripped right out of the wall (mind you, the latter could just as easily be due to improper mounting)

If that's your basement, mount it into the concrete/cinderblock beyond the paneling with a few long 1-1/4" bolts by the impact gun. It won't come down. Ever. ;)

Hehe, nope it is our living room at night with the lights out, 70's manufactured home, all the walls are wood paneling on wooden studs. The lag bolts have a great hold on the wall, I am more concerned about the swing arm on the product itself. They have a two arm model but it is quite a bit more money and my father has been using this same mount and tv setup for a few months on a wiggly house boat, so I figure I'm good.

I don't know, with that much of an investment I'd want to be really really sure that it was secure.

Though that would just bring up the question as to why I used lego to make risers for my computer desk...

Ghryphen 01-05-2007 11:26 AM

Well, I was being cheap plus I wanted it up now but the heavier duty mount would have had to been ordered while the current one they had in stock :)

Stang 01-05-2007 03:31 PM

That and the $300 price difference between the 2 mounts makes a quick decision too :). If we didnt trust it we would keep the other mount and just set it up on the cabinet.
